Pass the soap...

Jacob woke up from a nap a while back, and I noticed right away that his room smelled kind of funky.  I put him on the bathroom counter and found a huge poo diaper.  I started cleaning him up, but the poo kept on coming.  Every time I had his bottom clean and was about to put on a fresh diaper, more poo oozed out.   As I was thinking that my son grosses me out, I happened to take a quick glance in the mirror.   Something was on my face.  What was it you ask?  POO!  I don't know how it got there, but there it was.  A smudge of poo the size of a mole.

A Genius In the Works?

This morning as I was lying in bed listening to Jacob talk to himself, music suddenly began to play.  He somehow managed to turn on his mobile.  I figured that it was an accident and went to go get him.  Well, this afternoon when he was supposed to be sleeping, he turned it on again!  And then he turned it off a little bit later.  I definitely think he's showing signs of true brilliance.

Sometimes I hear a voice inside my head that says, "Your a husband and a father now.  You need to grow up and be more mature."  But then I watch a video of a man playing "Sweet Child of Mine" with nothing but fart noises from his hands and that voice says, "Ok, Ok, you're right.  That is awesome."

Last night, we spent some time with the Schoolers and the Hsias.  The Schoolers' son, Luke, is 5 1/2 months old and was very excited when he saw Jacob.  Here is the video of them meeting.

An update at last...

Well, we finally decided that it was time to update our blog.  So much has happened since the last post.  The most exciting event has been the arrival of our son Jacob.

Since his birth, we've been busy changing diapers, feeding, and trying to get some sleep.  Things are starting to settle down, and I think we're finally getting the hang of being parents.  Here are some things we've learned about parenthood:

1) Babies have explosive poo.  Sometimes it can get all over your clothes, or in Tim's case, it can get in your eye.
2) As babies gain weight, they develop leg folds.  Poo likes to hide in these folds.
3) Don't believe what people say about baby poo not smelling bad if they are breastfed.  The poo and farts smell just as bad as adults.
4) Never underestimate the power of a vibrating chair.
5) Sleep training really does work.
6) The first six weeks of a baby's life makes you wonder why you decided to have a child.
7) After the first six weeks, you are glad that you decided to have a child.
8) You learn how to inhale a meal within minutes.
9) Even if you leave the house 10 minutes before you really have to leave, you're still late.
10) When your baby smiles at you for the first time, it melts your heart.

We spent Jacob's first Christmas in Houston.  We had a good time hanging out with friends and family.  Here are some pictures from our time there.

Ant & Tina: The Chinese LA Wedding.

Congrats to Anthony & Tina on tying the knot!  For those who couldn't make it out to LA for the wedding, here's a little photo recap of what went down...

Apparently the $5 three-pack of Hanes undershirts was a little out of Warren's budget.  This picture has absolutely nothing to do with the wedding but has quickly become my favorite.

As the reception progressed, a recurring theme began to present itself.  Not a celebration of marriage or love, but one of surpise grinding and fake groping.  A few examples:
Krissy gets a surprise...and likes it

Moving on to something classier, here's one of the gifts all the groomsmen got Anthony for the wedding night.

We knew Tina would love it after watching her get a handful playing some weird game where the bride had to run an egg up one of Ant's pant legs and then back down the other.  I guess it was some Chinese tradition I had never seen before.

And finally, minus Heather who was stuck at home in Austin, a group shot of the whole gang with Tina, our newest addition.

On my old xanga, I used to copy and paste IM conversations I had with people so I could remember some of the funnier conversations I had.  For example, here's a screen cap of one of those conversations:

Continuing that tradition, here's a facebook exchange between Eric and Andy (afer "discovering" facebook) that I thought was fantastic:

I can't believe I'm saying this ... because I hate everything she stands for ... but I like the Fergie song, "Big Girls Don't Cry."
